We recently had the opportunity to help a dear friend, Scott Amori, reorganize his law firm, Amori & Associates, LLC. While our part was miniscule, we were there for the all the highs, lows and emotions that go along with the reorganization process. When you are staring a business from the ground floor, those highs, lows and emotions increase tenfold. Aardvark Entertainment can help with the grand opening, providing stilt walkers, moonbounces, balloon artits, face painters for the big day, but before that time remeber this: take it one step at a time, and make sure all the details are are taken care of. If it gets to be too overwhelming, give Scott Amori a call. He is happy to help you get your business started. 1 Comment Eleven days until the new year, and time for resolutions and fresh starts. As we think about what our fresh start for the new year will be, ours will be some changes to this site and our sister sites. Let us know what you would like to see on the site. We encourage your feedback The holiday season is in full swing! Light are up, decorations are out, it's a fantastic time of year, so much warmth and coziness. We all have so much going on during this time of year - shopping, wrapping, partying - it all tugs at our time. At Aardvark Entertainment, this is one of our busiest times of the year, we can really feel that tug, but we are lucky. We get to see the joy, the wonder, and the innocence that children children experience during this time of year. Each time it renews and refreshes our spirit. As the stresses of the season begin to wear on your spirit, take a moment to enjoy the the holidays through the eyes of a child. It's that time of year again. The time when our days become busier, preparation for the holidays start to take over, and we find ourselves getting lost in the hustle and bustle. It seems that as we get lost in our daily struggles, we forget the good things that we have in our lives. Thanksgiving is a time to remember the good we do have - family, friends, health - the important things. We wish you a very happy Thanksgiving, and we hope that you blessings are bountiful. Thanks so much to all of you who nominated us daily earlier in the fall. Because of your support, we have secured our place in the voting, not only in the categories we were seeking, but three others as well. We are asking you support now in making sure we are voted into the number one spot as best "Local Entertainer" and best "DJ/Party Company". Visit www.greatestaroundthepoconos.com and cast your vote today! You don't have to reside in the Poconos to vote. You may have seen us at a resort, festival or restaurant while you were on vacation. You can vote for those places too! We also have been nominated in three other categories - "Local Blog/Blogger", "Local Artist", and "Local Live Theater". During the nomination period, we didn't quite see how we fit into those categories, but you sure did, so vote for us there too! We have been so busy this summer, the blog has taken a back seat. As fall settles in, we do slow down a bit, our mid-week gigs come to a halt. So hopefully It's time for another installment of FAQ! This week we talk about... What happens if it rains? There are a few things we can do. We offer the option of a rain date - you pay an extra fee to secure a second date for your event. We also have no problem moving indoors - give us a garage, basement, family room, we can make it work. Except for the inflatable rides, we can move everything indoors. We have no problem substituting another available activity. We will move to another date provided we are available, but during the warmer months, when most events happen outside, this is a gamble. We worked with a school this past spring that did not secure a second date, and tried to move their event to another date due to the weather forecast. She could not find a date that all her vendors were available for and her hands were tied. Most people opt for the substitution and have the party anyway. For most events, it is about the fun and togetherness. Enjoy that. Starting October 13, come to Goombas at 720 Main St. in Stroudsburg for Family Night! After 6 you don't have to feed to feed the meter, and they have the BEST garlic knots in the Poconos, and 1 child eats free with the purchase of each dinner. See you in two weeks at Goombas! I can't believe summer is winding down! Nights are getting cooler, days are getting shorter, and parents and children are shifting their focus to gathering the supplies and new clothes they need for the start of school. This summer has been exciting. Our events have taken us to the Catskills, Manhattan, the Jersey Shore, and the Poconos. We have met so many amazing people in our travels as well. Just because summer is almost over, doesn't mean that we are slowing down. Halloween is booking up quickly, and our thoughts are quickly shifting towards the Christmas season. In a retail world that has Halloween merchandise out in August and Christmas merchandise out in September, it's seems like we are rushing the holidays too. But in reality, there are only so many banquet rooms and only so many performers. The Halloween candy will be still be on the shelf in October and you can you can still buy a Christmas tree in December, but if you want entertainment, you should definitely think about booking now. On Monday, I talked about the moonbounce accidents that have been in the news recently. Today in the Pocono Record, there was an article that quotes Jim Barber, a spokesperson for the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials, on the risks and precautions you can take to keep these rides safe and fun for everyone. Click here to read the full AP article regarding moonbounce safety. It's the end of the school and our calendar has been full helping children children celebrate the end of another successful year and the start of 10 weeks of nothing but fun. Some of these events include our moonbounce and giant slide. This past weekend and event occurred that shows just how dangerous rides can be when the instructions and laws are not followed. Below is a clip from the "Today Show" that shows several rides being blown over. I am unfamiliar with the laws in NY and Arizona regarding moonbounces and other inflatable rides, but PA and NJ have strict laws. Those laws are in place to prevent serious accidents like the ones above from happening. The accident in Arizona featured in this news cast happened because the company dropped off the moonbounce and left the parents in charge. Dad didn't want to appear "mean" and deflate the bounce when it became windy. Instead, he spent the party in the ER. We are not posting this to scare you into not renting a moonbounce or other inflatable. These rides can be so much fun for the children. We are posting this to remind you that rules are there for a reason, to keep your child safe. If we are at your event and say that it needs to come down, we are not trying to ruin your party. Not having a moonbounce is much better than spending your afternoon in the ER. When looking to have an inflatable at your event, you need to ask if the the company has a licensed inspector (PA) or what the state rules are for ride inpections, are they insured, and what is their policy for inclement weather. Mark has attended state training classes, and he is certified by the state. If you see one of our operators running a bounce, you can be certain they have been properly trained. Our goal is for all the children to have a great time while keeping them safe. |
